Weekend Recap: Blurred Lines

A couple of months ago, my contacts expired. Unfortunately, I have no vision insurance, so new contacts would have cost me a ton of money. Since I'm kind of on this spending fast, I decided to postpone ordering new contacts until afterwards. But my vision has been giving me some minor headaches lately, so I decided to bite the bullet and order some contacts from Walgreens.com since they just emailed me a 20% off all contacts coupon (not affiliated, just a regular customer).

So I order online, get the order number and everything. Then the next day I get this:

You can probably imagine just how upset I was. First of all, I read the word "denied" as if Suze Orman herself had scolded me. Secondly - I didn't budget for this! I called up my eye care provider and asked how much an exam was. After a lot of beating around the bush, the receptionist finally said it would cost me around $160 without insurance. Ugh.

I would have given up at this point if it wasn't for the fact that my eyes have been bothering me for the past few months. So, this past weekend, I went in for an eye appointment expecting to pull one hundred and sixty buckaroos out of my emergency fund. Fortunately, when I got there, a different receptionist said that I had the option to do a "contacts only" exam for only $60! YAY for more than half off! This contacts-only exam also included a one month supply of sample contacts for free, so I'm glad I went!

Other than that, the past weekend was jam-packed! If you've noticed, I worked on the site a little bit and I also created an 'About Me' page. This template will do for now, but I'm honestly getting a little fed up with my lack of choices on Blogger. I'm thinking of switching to Wordpress real, real soon. Any of you guys have any tips on the switch? I've read this guide on switching over from Michelle at Making Sense of Cents, and I would love any additional feedback you guys may have!
